Nestled in the heart of British Columbia's scenic Cariboo region, P. Bass Fish and Chips stands as a beacon for seafood lovers and a cherished local institution. Located conveniently at #1-220 Hwy 97 S, One Hundred Mile House, BC V0K 2E1, Canada, this unassuming eatery has carved out a stellar reputation for delivering an authentic and incredibly satisfying fish and chips experience.

Bass Fish and Chips isn't about frills; it's about perfecting the beloved culinary tradition of fish and chips, making it a must-visit spot whether you're a long-time resident of One Hundred Mile House or just passing through on Highway 97. The vibe here is distinctly casual, focusing entirely on the quality of the food and the satisfaction of its patrons.

The star of the show, as the name suggests, is undoubtedly their Fish and Chips. Patrons rave about the impeccable preparation, featuring a light, crispy batter that encases perfectly cooked, flaky fish. The menu proudly offers both classic Cod and the more premium Halibut, catering to different preferences. Many regulars opt for the generous 2 Piece Cod, a hearty meal that promises both flavour and substance. Each piece of breaded cod or halibut is cooked to golden perfection, never greasy, ensuring a delightful crunch with every bite. The chips are equally well-executed – golden, fluffy on the inside, and crispy on the outside, making them the ideal accompaniment to the fresh fish.

But P. Bass Fish and Chips is more than just its namesake dish. Their Clam Chowder often receives special mention, described by many as a rich, creamy, and flavourful bowl of comfort, packed with tender clams. It’s the kind of homemade chowder that warms you from the inside out, making it a perfect complement to their main offerings, especially on a cooler BC day. For those who enjoy a truly Canadian twist, the option of having Fish and Chips with Gravy adds another layer of savoury delight to an already fantastic meal.

What truly sets P. Bass Fish and Chips apart, beyond the exceptional quality of their seafood, is the consistent dedication to freshness, generous portions, and a friendly, welcoming service that makes every visit a pleasant one. It’s a place where you get genuine value for your money, and you leave feeling thoroughly satisfied. The focus on takeaway options also makes it incredibly convenient for those on the go, ensuring you can enjoy their delicious offerings wherever your journey takes you.

In conclusion, P. Bass Fish and Chips has firmly established itself as a culinary gem in One Hundred Mile House, BC. It’s a testament to simple, well-executed food, offering consistently fresh fish, perfectly crispy batter, and delightful clam chowder. Whether you crave the classic cod, the luxurious halibut, or a comforting bowl of chowder, this spot delivers an authentic and highly recommended seafood experience that embodies the welcoming spirit of British Columbia.

It's not often I award a perfect score, but this unassuming fish and chips spot truly impressed us with both its culinary offerings and the exceptional service. Those looking for a fancy dining atmosphere might want to consider other options, as this local treasure shines brightly through its outstanding service and the superb quality of its food, despite a concise menu. The fish was expertly prepared, the fries were made from perfectly cooked, in-season, locally sourced potatoes, and the creamy coleslaw was clearly crafted fresh in-house. Our server was incredibly pleasant and went above and beyond to be helpful. Honestly, the food here could easily rival that of any top-tier coastal restaurant.

Our experience at P. Bass Fish and Chips was so exceptional that we found ourselves visiting twice within a single week – once on our journey north to BC and again on our return trip, simply because it was that outstanding. Monica and Lee truly excel in running this establishment, and their dedication and genuine care are evident in every detail. We were thoroughly impressed by the amazing quality of the fish, the perfectly cooked fries, the refreshing coleslaw, and the delicious fish tacos. Our server, Judy, also deserves special mention for being incredibly sweet and remarkably efficient throughout our visits. We've already enthusiastically recommended this spot to many friends and family, and it's now firmly on our must-stop list whenever we travel through 100 Mile House.

I'm genuinely blown away by this spot; hands down, these are the finest fish and chips I've ever tasted. What truly sets them apart is the perfectly light crispness of the batter, completely free from that common, unappetizing goopy layer often found between the fish and its coating at so many other establishments. If you're anywhere in the 100 Mile area, this is an absolute essential stop.
